Thomas Joseph Wall, age 78, died at home on November 6, 2023 surrounded by his loving family after a three-year battle fighting cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jane; his son, Jason Wall; daughter-in-law, Daisy Wall; daughter, Heather Wall Beckham; son-in-law, Brent Beckham; granddaughter, Ashley Beckham and grandsons, Victor Wall, Brandon Beckham and Valen Wall.
Tom was born March 4, 1945 in Norfolk, VA and lived his childhood in Lynn and Nahant, Massachusetts. He graduated from Bates College and served in the Army Reserves Civil Affairs Unit. Tom's career concentration was in evaluating manufacturing facilities and determining their feasibility, mostly in the automotive and related industries. In the late 80's, he purchased five manufacturing companies and maximized their growth and potential resulting in their sale to a German conglomerate that wanted manufacturing presence in the US. Tom often said he was born to retire and was able to do just that at 50. Tom loved to travel with friends and family and was always ready to pack his suitcase. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He loved crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader. He also dabbled in real estate and was always looking for a deal. He lived and worked with his family in Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Georgia and Florida. He was known for his keen wit and sense of humor. He cultivated many lifelong friends wherever he went and treasured his times with them. Tom's greatest love was his family. He was so very proud of his son, Jason and his daughter, Heather and felt especially blessed with his son-in-law, Brent and his daughter-in-law, Daisy. He savored every moment watching his grandchildren, Victor, Ashley and Brandon through the years from infancy to young adults and was delighted to create special stories and watch football with Valen, his youngest grandson. He enjoyed traveling with his family as well as attending their school and sports events. He just loved being a dad and grandfather.
We will all miss Tom's bright spot in our lives, but he remains in our hearts always.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Winship Cancer Institute at Emory or the charity of your choice.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory Duluth Chapel to honor Tom.
