Thomas Dale Whelpley, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday October 28, 2025 at Embrace Hospice House of South Carolina in Myrtle Beach. He was born on December 2, 1941 in Dubois, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas D. Whelpley, Sr., & Eshter Archibald Whelpley.
Along with his parents, Tom is reunited in passing with his sisters, Nancy Coder and Carol Hook.
Tom was a hardworking man with a heart of gold and a zest for life. He was a proud graduate of Brockway High School and went on to graduate from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in agriculture engineering. Tom joined the workforce, fell in love and started a family in Wisconsin. Tom and his wife decided to retire to sunny South Carolina to enjoy the warm weather and sense of community. In his free time, Tom could be found outdoors- usually golfing, tending to his yard and traveling. Above all else, Tom loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Tom's memory are his beloved wife of over 61 years, Carol Ann Whelpley of Conway, SC; three daughters, Karen Glembocki (David) of Pheonix, AZ, Amy Fohey Hartland, of Wisconsin, and Jennifer Merlet Hartland, of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Kate Glambocki, Emma Glembocki, Seth Fohey, Noah Fohey, Autumn Fohey, McKenna Merlet, Alyssa Merlet; as well as many extended family members and close friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date. Those details will be announced when finalized.
At the request of the family, please consider and act of kindness in lieu of flowers.
Burroughs Funeral Home of Murrells Inlet (843-651-1440) is honored to assist the family.
