Thomas Edward Yachinich Jr.
October 14, 1949 – October 29, 2025
Thomas "Tom" or "Yak" Yachinich passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, after a
courageous battle with lymphoma. Born in Ashland, Wisconsin, Tom's early life reflected the
close-knit spirit of a small town and a love of sports that would stay with him forever.
A talented basketball player, Tom led Paducah Community College to a 1969 NJCAA National
Championship before continuing to play at the University of Southern Mississippi. His
professional life took him on the open road as a bus driver with Greyhound, BlueBonnet
Coaches, and Regent Coachline, where his humor, kindness, and easygoing nature made him
beloved by passengers and colleagues alike.
Tom was a lifelong sports fan and could often be found cheering for the Packers, Astros,
Aggies, and Spurs. He was a proud Texan who enjoyed golf, good company, and sharing a
laugh. Known for his generosity and adventurous spirit, he made everyone feel welcome
wherever he went.
He is survived by his partner Janet, brother Jim, sister Andrea (Dave), nieces Jennifer (Lee)
and Michelle, great niece Erin, daughters Katy (Michael) and Ginger (Leslie), stepdaughter
Mandy (Taran), and grandchildren Lily, Juliet, Jack, Elias, Zara, and Caspian.
Tom will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the light he brought into the lives of
those who knew him.

Played basketball with Yak in high school. He was a talent and just a nice guy. Sorry to see him go and I know he will be missed! Prayers and thoughts to his family
