Thomas F Young

Thomas F. Young, 82, of SimiValley, passed away on December 24th, 2025 at Los Robles Medical Center. His death was the result of a traumatic head injury, following a fall. Tom was born on July 16th, 1943 in Southgate, CA to John and Helen Young. He grew up in Big Bear and Sunland, attending local schools. He attended Verdugo Hills High School and excelled in their gymnastics program. After graduating from high school, he attended Arizona State University. In 1970, he began his career as an aerospace engineer, a career that continued until his retirement in 2015.
Throughout Tom's career, he was well-known and respected in the industry for his innovative designs and dedicated work ethic. Many of his designs were patented and he received numerous awards and accolades for his work.
Tom loved the outdoors and participated in many outdoor activities. He was especially passionate about fishing and spent many hours on the ocean and lakes. He generously and eagerly shared his vast fishing knowledge with fellow anglers.
Tom enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the Dodgers. His many interests included reading, traveling, grilling, fishing and spending time with his family. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years, Kay, and father to his children, Julie and Thomas. He was a kind, generous, gentle soul with a quick wit and disarming smile. He had an insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge and loved to share his knowledge with others. Tom is survived by his wife, Kay and daughter, Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Young, his brothers, Robert and William, and his son Thomas.
