Thomas Patrick Ziegler, known affectionately to friends and family as Pat, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, at the age of 77 in Canyon Lake, California. Born on October 21, 1947, in Pasadena, California, Pat's life was one marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep-seated faith.
Pat's early years in Pasadena laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and devotion to his loved ones. His commitment shone brightly in his service to the nation, as he honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He served two tours, 101 Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division, which spanned from 1965 to 1972. Following his military service, Pat embarked on a successful career in the construction industry, where he started as an ironworker, which he was very proud of the many buildings in Los Angeles he worked on that blanketed the skyline. His skill and work ethic saw him rise to the position of superintendent. His 35 years in the field not only built structures but also lasting relationships with his colleagues and friends.
The heart of Pat's life was his family. He shared 21 years of marriage with his loving wife, Dona Ziegler, a union that was blessed with laughter, mutual respect, and unwavering support. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Shannon (David) Miller and Rebekah (Mike) Scott, imparting wisdom and instilling values that will carry on through generations. His role as a grandfather to his five grandchildren brought him immense joy, as he watched them grow and explore the world with the same curiosity and zest for life that he himself had.
Pat's siblings, Donald, Karen, and John Michael Ziegler, will fondly remember their brother's warm heart and friendly nature. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Ziegler, and the bond they shared continues to be a source of cherished memories for the entire Ziegler family.
Beyond his work and family, Pat had a variety of interests that filled his days with happiness and purpose. He found solace in gardening, tending to his plants with the same care and attention he gave to every aspect of his life. His home was his sanctuary, where he could often be found putzing around, fixing and improving things with a level of precision that reflected his meticulous nature. Pat's passion for BBQing brought friends and family together to enjoy good food and even better company. In his younger years, running and martial arts were not just hobbies but disciplines that taught him the value of perseverance and strength.
A man of faith, Pat's study of the Bible was a testament to his desire to lead a life guided by spiritual principles. His faith-filled approach to life's challenges and blessings alike served as an inspiration to those who knew him, and his loving spirit was a comforting presence in the lives of many.
Those who knew Pat would describe him as a loving, friendly, and faith-filled man. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to the well-being of others. He approached every day with an open heart and a readiness to help, qualities that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
