Throop Lockey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Wood Mortuary, Inc. - Greer on Feb. 26, 2026.
Throop Crosland Lockey, 78, went to his heavenly home on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, dear friends, and the compassionate caregivers at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Born on August 22, 1947, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Troop was the son of the late Douglas Daniel Lockey and Lillie Mae Lockey.

Troop was a hardworking and dedicated businessman who believed in the value of hard work. He worked seven days a week managing his many ventures, which included operating a car lot, working as a contractor, managing real estate rentals, and pursuing just about any opportunity he could to "make a dollar," a phrase he was well known for saying. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit defined much of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carson Lockey, Douglas Lockey, Woodrow Lockey, Rudolph Lockey, and Robert Lockey; and his sisters, Catherine L. Trusdale and Mary Lockey Norris.

He leaves behind his family, friends, and business partners who will cherish his memory and carry forward the lessons of determination and perseverance he shared throughout his life.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Mark Smith. Committal will be private.

Visitation will be held 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Wood Mortuary.

Any donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, which held a special place in his heart.
