Thurman Spencer Smith, age 72, of Seagrove, passed away on June, 28, 2025.
Born on February 27, 1953, in Randolph County, he was the son of Thomas and Loucendy Davis Smith. Thurman dedicated many years to his work as a supervisor at Clayson Knitting and Slane Hosiery until his retirement, and he also pursued his passion for farming. Thurman had a deep love for deer hunting and antique tractors, which brought him joy as he participated in parades.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Nannie Smith and brother Roger Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Morris Smith of the home; sister Betty Spivey (Larry) of Biscoe; brothers Jerry Smith (Ella Mae) of Seagrove and James Smith (Misty) of Seagrove; several nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved dog, Dixie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Smith Family Cemetery, located at 1579 Adams Rd, Seagrove at 10:00 am officiated by Daniel Luther.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Thurman's memory to the Westmoore Fire Department, 1211 Dover Church Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341.
