Pastor Thuston L. Packnett Sr.

Administrative Assistant Thuston L. Packnett, Sr. was born June 8th, 1955, in Centerville, Mississippi, to Deacon John Packnett and Mother Connie V. Packnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon John and Mother Connie Packnett, and his grandson, Kareem Nelson.
Pastor Packnett graduated from Paseo High School in 1973 with honors. While attending Paseo High school, Pastor Packnett played baseball, football, and was in a band. During Pastor Packnett's senior year, he met the love of his life, Evangelist Missionary Bertha Packnett. Pastor Packnett married Missionary Bertha Packnett on May 24th, 1975, at Greater Holy Temple.
Pastor Packnett began working at St. Joseph Hospital in March 1977, for over 32 years with Aramark as a corporate executive, managing 15 accounts in 2 states and a $25 million portfolio. Pastor Packnett received numerous awards and publications for the outstanding food service.
Pastor Packnett from a child was a faithful member of Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop C.N. Rucker and the late Dr. J.C. Haynes. While a member of Greater Holy Temple, he served in many capacities, including Chairman of Trustees, Secretary of Deacons Board, Chairman of Celebration of Ministries and Men's Day, and also served as teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class.
It was early in 2001 when Pastor Packnett began talking to his wife, Missionary Bertha Packnett, about the burden God had placed on him to establish a new work. Not serious about pursuing a location, Pastor Packnett and his wife would often discuss buildings that might make a good worship edifice and even visited occupied properties to inquire about potential access.
The rest of the story is a testament to God's faithfulness and Pastor Packnett's obedience. After much prayer and seeking God, Pastor Packnett found the perfect location for Redemption Ministries. With the support of his Jurisdictional Prelate, the Late Bishop Emanuel Newton, Sr., Pastor Packnett received approval for the property.
Redemption Ministries opened its doors to Kansas City on Sunday, December 1, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. to a standing room only crowd, and held its first regular worship service that very next Sunday, December 8, 2002.
Funeral services Saturday, December 21, at 11:00am at Christian Tabernacle Church of God In Christ. Interment Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation Friday, December 20, 12:00pm- 8:00pm at Redemption Ministries COGIC and Saturday, December 21, 10:00am-11:00am at Christian Tabernacle COGIC. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A.
