Tiffany Kaye Largey (McGuirt), known as TK to her friends, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Austin, TX, at the age of 52. TK was born on November 13, 1973, in Houston, TX, the first daughter of Patrick and Melba McGuirt.
Her generosity, loyalty and laughter left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Her family moved around a lot when TK was growing up - Houston, Beaumont, Portland - but never left Texas. TK was proud of being a native Texan. She graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1992 and went on to study at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a bachelor's degree in communications and making many life-long friends.
Traveling was one of TK's great passions, and she seized every opportunity to explore new places. She loved to visit Europe, traveling with friends and family to France, Italy, Portugal and Germany, among many other places. She even lived for a time in Ireland.
She was a natural storyteller. Her passion for authentic stories led her to the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME to study radio documentaries, where she met her future husband, Matt. After a few years away, TK returned to Texas. She pursued her interest in holistic health by earning a master's degree in Chinese medicine from the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. She later started her own acupuncture practice.
In 2012, TK was diagnosed with ovarian cancer while pregnant. Her determination for both her and her child to survive was inspiring. She fought and beat the cancer, giving birth to a perfect baby, June, in the process. TK was an amazing mother - nurturing, adventurous and fiercely protective. She loved being a mom, passing along her wit, intelligence and love of travel to June. TK and June would make several trips around the country and to Europe. TK was overjoyed to show her child just how big the world is.
When she wasn't traveling physically, TK was meeting new people and seeing the world in her imagination. She was a voracious reader. The library was maybe her happiest place. She loved adventures and mysteries - but would read almost anything. There seemed to be nothing she wasn't interested in learning about. Some of her favorite authors were Haruki Murakami and Michael Ventura.
She loved to dance, whether alone in her room in front of a mirror or standing in line at a store. When the rhythm struck, she couldn't help but move. She would lip-sync along with her favorite songs - or even the most random song she hadn't heard in years. Her capacity for remembering song lyrics was legendary.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Largey, and their child, June, who will carry forward her spirit of love and generosity. TK is also lovingly remembered by her father, Patrick McGuirt, her mother, Melba McGuirt, her sister, Amber Scott. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, cherishing the memories they made together.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center on December 6, 2025 at noon. A reception will follow at one of TK's favorite restaurants, Loro on South Lamar.
