Margaret Largey

Margaret "Peggy" Loretto Largey, 98, of Beaufort, SC, widow of Dr. John F. Largey, died peacefully
Thursday, October 2, 2025 at her home.
Mrs. Largey was born on October 8, 1926 in Queens, New York. She is the daughter of the late Francis Gerroir and Mary Mulvihill Gerroir. She graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy in Ozone Park, New York. After living most of her life on Long Island, she relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina in 2016.
On February 11, 1950, she married Dr. John F. Largey who passed away in 1995.
She is survived by her children: Meg Largey (Ron Callari), Trish Largey Koch (Larry, deceased), Fancy Largey, and John F. Largey (Diane Mason.)
Peggy's interests were varied. She and her husband enjoyed water skiing and square dancing. She was an avid Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffet fan and enjoyed Broadway musicals. She enjoyed being the hostess for many family and holiday celebrations.
In addition to being a full-time mom, she also enjoyed crafts such as copper enameling, knitting, and macrame. Her family still enjoys wearing her custom knit socks.
Peggy was an avid Mah Jongg player for decades, and was known for her competitive spirit.
In her later years she enjoyed worldwide travel to explore and experience various cultures. She visited several countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. Her spirit was particularly drawn to African wildlife.
She was forever young, with a curiosity about the world. She embraced technology and digital photography before it became commonplace.
Her children remember her has an awesome person who just happened to be their mom.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11:30am at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Lady's Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice of Ridgeland, South Carolina
