Tim Denton Linder

Tim Denton Linder, 73 of Solon passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025 with his family by his side.

Tim was a heck of a coach, a darn good friend, and an even better dad and "Poppy" to his kids and grandkids. A competitor from the start, his love for sports led him to play college basketball at Iowa Central and the University of Nebraska Omaha. After his playing days, he found purpose and passion in teaching and coaching-a career that spanned over 30 years and left a lasting impact on many.

He met the love of his life, Mary Lou, in Ames, Iowa, where their bond began in seventh grade. Married for over 50 years, they built a life and legacy grounded in love, laughter, and unforgettable memories that will live on for generations.

One of his proudest accomplishments was winning a state championship at City High, however it doesn't compare to the pride he had in his children and grandchildren. His six grandkids were the light of his life, and they will remember his fun-loving spirit, 4-wheeler rides, fishing in the pond, and having the best napping spot in his arms.

Tim found joy in the simple things-fishing, storytelling, cracking one-liners, and spending time with family and friends. It didn't take much to make him happy. He had a natural way of making people feel seen, heard, and welcome. Tim had the ability to command a room with his presence and warm smile.

He leaves behind a family who will miss him every single day. They will continue to show up for others and for each other, just as Tim always did.

Rest easy, Coach. You were one of a kind.

Tim is survived by his wife Mary Lou; daughter, Alecia Bucksa (Jared), son, Nicklaus Linder (Amanda) and daughter, Kelsie Campbell (Christopher); his grandkids, Louis, Elizabeth, Jackson, Eleanor, Sidney, and Briggs; his siblings; sister, Joan (Ron) Ron Kolpa, brother, Jim (Marsha) Linder, sister, Peg Johnson, and sister Beth (Craig) Hageman, sister, Vick Linder; and

brother-in-law Kyle Williams.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Dar and Betty Linder, sister Patsy, and in-laws Kim and Dale Williams.

A tribute to celebrate Tim's life and legacy will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Urban Acres, 250 Holiday Road, Coralville. Friends are welcome to share stories and their favorite memories of Tim.
