BELLVILLE: Tim D. Metcalfe never knew a stranger. Tim was a devoted father, husband, and neighbor who is remembered by those who loved him for his wit and friendly nature. He passed away peacefully in his Bellville home on April 17, 2024 following an extended illness.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on March 31, 1951 to Arthur E. and Mary Ellen (Doup) Metcalfe, Tim graduated from Mt. Vernon High School before attending classes in Columbus in computer programming. During his high school years, Tim met the love of his life, Patricia, a fellow classmate. They dated for five years before marrying the day before his twentieth birthday in 1971. This year, they were blessed to celebrate their fifty-third anniversary.
Diligent and hard-working, Tim enjoyed a long career in retail management for Sohio and BP at the companies' local stations. He also worked as an independent contractor for the United States Postal Service, driving mail trucks throughout central Ohio.
In their five decades of marriage, Tim and Patricia enjoyed spending time with their devoted and loving family, which included children Troy (Jenny) Metcalfe, Melissa Metcalfe (Ryan Pratt), and Tim (Laken) Metcalfe; grandchildren Jordan, Trevor, Kobe, and Celeste; and great-grandchild Coraline and her mother Nevaeh. Tim is survived by mother Mary Ellen Metcalfe; brothers Tom (Roxanna) Metcalfe and Dan (Desiree) Metcalfe; sister-in-law Bonnie Batten; beloved nieces and nephews; and special dog Hachi.
He was preceded in death by father Arthur; and sisters Charlotte Cagnon and Christine Whipple.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Tim recall the dedication he demonstrated for his family. He always shared what he had with whoever needed it, and was willing to drop everything at a moment's notice to help those he loved. He never failed to share his passions with his family; his children and grandchildren recall the memories they cherish of learning about mechanics and classic cars, and summers spent at campsites. Although inherited from his wife, his love for The Ohio State University's football team carries forward as part of his legacy in his family when they enjoy a game together.
Tim's family invites friends and loved ones to gather at Snyder Funeral Home in Bellville on April 22, 2024 at 3pm for a memorial service to celebrate Tim's life and the legacy he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Finnegan's Run in Bellville.
