Timmie Scott Obituary
Timmie Lane Scott, a life-long resident of Clay County, TN, died peacefully at his home on Happy Ridge Thursday, February 15th, 2024, surrounded by family after a 9 year-long stint with various cancers.
Timmie (Tim) was born in a small cabin in Turkey Neck Bend, KY to Paul and Elsie Scott on March 18, 1951. Timmie and his brothers spent their youth farming the family's land along Pea Ridge, TN. He was a graduate of Celina High School, class of 1969. After graduation he enlisted in the Army; Tim's service took him to Germany, where he was a communications specialist until 1972. Following his service, he spent a decade working for the Roberts family at Cedar Hill Marina. He retired from Head Equipment as a heavy equipment salesman after 26 years.
Timmie was a die-hard University of Tennessee fan; he held season tickets at Neyland Stadium for decades, and was instrumental in bringing the Big Orange Caravan, as well as the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, to visit Celina. Politics and civil service were just as important to Timmie - he was a chair of the Clay County Democratic Party for several years before serving as a Clay County Commissioner for District 1 for over a decade. He was also a dedicated softball parent, helping with The Rebels travel team for years. Once retired, Timmie acquired a number of hobbies including beekeeping and exploring America with his wife via RV. More often than not, you would find Timmie set up on the square in Celina, selling pumpkins and peaches.
Timmie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dora Paulette Strong Scott; brothers Floyd Cornell (Linda) and Terry Joe (Diedra) Scott; daughters Tammie (Stacy) Dickerson and Kassi (Zac) Fox; granddaughters Gracie Huff and Mylie Kate Herron; sister-in-law Lola Jean Dillon Fawbush; and nieces and nephews James (Liz) Scott, Jill (Kyle) McCabe, and Amanda (Matt) Craighead.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center with a focus on Leukemia research in Timmie's name. Donations can be made here: https://give.vanderbilthealth.org/timscott
