Timothy Cornell Bailey
Sunrise: June 14, 1969 – Sunset: August 30, 2025
One of God's special angels, Timothy Cornell "Tim" Bailey passed peacefully on August 30, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving mother, brother, and family.
Tim was born in
Georgetown, Texas, to Sharron Chambers and Timothy Cornell Davis in the early morning of June 14, 1969. He was the eldest of his siblings and carried a deep love of faith, family, and music throughout his life.
As a child, Tim grew up in the arms of Macedonia Baptist Church (MBC), following in the footsteps of his beloved grandmother, Zelma Evans. Under the guidance of Rev. W. A. Cartwright, Tim was baptized and nurtured in the Christian faith. Later, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Jimmy Johnson, Sr., Tim became known for his rich baritone voice that blessed many worship services and established his lifelong connection to the church.
Tim graduated from Georgetown High School and went on to attend Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University), majoring in Mass Communications and Music. During this time, he also sang with Claudia Williams and the Voices of Christ Choir in Austin, Texas, where his musical gifts inspired many.
In the summer of 2000, Tim moved to Washington, D.C., where he pursued his career goals in television and radio across the DMV area. As Christ would have it, he soon found his spiritual home at Community of Hope AME Church in Temple Hills, Maryland.
Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Tony Lee, Tim was ordained into ministry and faithfully served at Community of Hope for more than 20 years. Community of Hope, founded in 2006 in the historic Legend Night Club, became nationally recognized for its innovative ministry, social engagement, and outreach. Tim lived the mission of the church-to make hope real in the lives of all people. He was especially committed to the church's work around HIV/AIDS awareness, unhoused communities, violence prevention, educational advocacy, and building bridges between community and law enforcement. Tim accepted a promotion with his company and moved to Atlanta, GA and later also found fellowship with The Dream Center Church, expanding his family of faith.
For the past five years, Tim faced his greatest earthly challenge: a courageous battle with colon, spinal, liver, and brain cancer. Through countless treatments, hospital stays, and moments of trial, Tim fought with dignity, grace, and unwavering faith. Even in pain, he remained an encourager-reminding his family, friends, and church communities to lean on God and to never lose hope.
Tim leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Sharron Chambers (Tommy Chambers); his cherished grandmother, Zelma Evans; and his siblings: Rochion Greg, Marcus Ross, Eli Davilla, Terrence "TK" Davis, Malinda Derry, and Sparkle Davis. He is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives. Tim's faith family was equally dear to him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved church homes-Macedonia Baptist Church (MBC), Community of Hope AME Church, and The Dream Center Church-as well as countless friends near and far. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Theda Belle Davis, his father, Timothy Cornell Davis, and his cousin, Tracy Louise Davis.
There will be a Ministry in Music Celebration on Fri., Sept. 19, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 206 Martin Luther King Jr St,
