Carl Ray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Jan. 8, 2026.
Carl Daniel Ray, age 35, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 after a prolonged illness. To the family he was Daniel, but at a young age he chose to be known as Carl with his friends and throughout life.

Born April 01, 1990 at Loring AFB, Maine, he grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas then moved to Georgetown, Texas. He played football for Georgetown High School. After graduation he joined the Marine Corp, where he graduated from USMC Boot Camp, and began the School of Infantry training. From the time Daniel was 14 years old, he wanted nothing more than to be a Marine soldier. He worked hard to attain this goal.

Daniel had a curiosity of enjoyment and knew no fear. He loved animals, often bringing home strays. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking. He rode dirt bikes, roped cows, had a show goat. He loved Johnny Cash. He had a great sense of humor and wonder. He never knew a stranger. Our home was always filled with his friends. A friend recently described him as "an unchainable, unbreakable, wild and bright soul". This is how we remember him. Daniel leaves behind his sister Ashley Ray, his brothers Wade Ray and Matthew Ray; Ashley's children Brooklyn and Barrett Culin; his mother, Lisa Story, his father Carl W Ray Jr (wife Oreo Chuang Ray); along with numerous family and friends who loved and will miss him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl W Ray Sr, grandfather Guy H Story, and grandmother Syble Pearson Story.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory. It's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.

In lieu of flowers, to honor Carl Daniel's love of animals, please make a donation to your local animal shelter.
