Timothy "Tim" A. and Sharon M. (Skaggs) Belcher, both 67, of Spring Mills, held each others hands as they walked into Heaven together on Monday, March 25, 2024. Tim was born on March 13, 1957, in Huntington, WV and was the son of the late Arthur and Dollie (Huddleston) Belcher. On May 15, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon M. Skaggs. Sharon was born on October 15, 1956, in Waukegan, IL and was the daughter of Rhetta (Gibson) Skaggs of Hurricane, WV and the late Roscoe Skaggs.
Tim and Sharon both graduated from Barboursville High School. Tim then continued his education at a Vo-Tech College in Ohio, studying computer science. Tim retired from NCR in 2019 and worked there as a computer technician. Sharon dedicated her working career to assisting others, whether it was as a Paraeducator or a nurses aide at Juniper Village or assisting individuals at Life SKILLS.
Tim was a member of the Masonic Lodge 515 in Osceola Mills and the Fillmore Hunting Club in Snow Shoe. He was very passionate about learning all he could in regards to history, especially the Civil War. He was an avid reader and loved to study genealogy. He was a handyman that his children would often call for assistance, but he would help anyone that needed it. He was a strong, loving, family man and a true southern gentleman, kind and courteous.
Sharon enjoyed shopping trips and collecting her unique, brightly colored treasures she would find while out and about, especially at flea markets. She loved looking for animal shaped rocks and driftwood, she loved her driftwood. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and time with her grandchildren. You could find her sun bathing, in her favorite flip flops, showing off her eclectic choice of toe nail polish. She would often say things that were goofy or may not have made much sense, so those were affectionately referred to as "Sharonisms".
Together, Tim and Sharon made one heck of a team. They were both individuals that put family above all else, loved each other deeply, and balanced each other out. Tim could be a little serious and quiet at times and Sharon could be boisterous and opinionated, but together, they grounded each other. They taught their children a love for the great outdoors, whether it was hunting with dad or taking family trips camping, hiking, or kayaking. They would take their family on vacation, which usually entailed a reenactment of the Civil War somewhere that they all participated in and it lead to some life long friendships. Memories will be cherished for many years to come and they will continue to live on in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Together they are survived by four children, Michelle R. Hagan of Spring Mills, Jessica M. Stroud of Centre Hall, Tara L. Roy of Chapel Hill, NC, and Joshua A. Belcher and his wife, Megan, of West Decatur; and eight grandchildren, Cole, Cade, Dylan, Joslyn, Naavya, Anisha, Landon, and Carson. They are also survived by Sharon's mother, Rhetta Skaggs; six of Sharon's siblings, Roscoe "Butch" Skaggs (Cathy), Allen Skaggs (Barb), Tim "Timmy" Skaggs (Mary), Sandy Collins (Larry), Mary Davis (Glen), and Bertha Scarberry (Billy), all of West Virginia; and two life long friends that have become like family to both of them, Kelsey and Peg Lyons.
A viewing for both Tim and Sharon will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 3pm – 5pm at the Barbara Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Centre Hall. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service will be held at 5pm with a funeral service to immediately follow with Pastor Josh Simonetti officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the memory of Tim and Sharon to the Fillmore Hunting Club, c/o Rod Stine, 1170 Parkwood Drive, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
