Timothy Brass Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - Brookfield on Oct. 7, 2023.
Timothy J. "Tim" Brass
Born to Eternal Life on October 4, 2023, at age 64. Loving brother of Sandra (the late Patrick) Schuette and the late Thomas (Mary) Brass. Beloved uncle of Kristen (Jonathan) Shane, David Schuette, Lauren Schuette, Christopher (Alicia) Mohr, and Winnie. Preceded in death by his parents Tom and Pat Brass. Also loved by many, many friends.
Tim was a 1977 graduate of Brookfield East High School.
His parents opened Brass' Hi-Fi Lounge in Brookfield in 1963, and Tim grew up in, worked at, and managed the bar until he bought it on December 31, 1985. While managing the Bar Restaurant, Tim also continued with the Brass tradition of providing entertainment with the many bands to perform such as: Arroyo, Plum Loco, Sierra, Paul Cebar, Warren Wiegratz with Sweetbottom, J P Duffy, Sweet Cheeks, and the Love Monkeys. It was the place to go, the "Cheers of Brookfield". Besides running the bar and restaurant, he participated in catering many festivals including Zoo ala Carte, where famous Louisianna Chef Prudhomme complimented him with the "Best Gumbo outside of Louisianna". Catered for the Marshal Tucker Band, Kansas, America, Huey Lewis and the News, 3 Dog Night, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship. In addition to the bands he provided catering for Brookfield Days, Waukesha River Fest, Indian Summer, Bastille Days, and Maritime Days. At Brass', Tim was also known for holding Brazzuffet, with the band Six Friars and a Monk, and the annual Christmas Eve party with the famous home-made Tom & Jerrys.
Throughout the years Tim maintained his many friendships with classmates and treasured the time spent.
In 1993, Tim received the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Milwaukee Chapter Restaurateur of the Year Award. Tim served on the Wisconsin Restaurant Association State Board for 6 years, and was President of the Milwaukee Chapter for one year.
Tim owned Brass' until he sold it on August 16, 1998. Then, he followed his dream and went out West to the mountains and became a camp cook in Colorado and Wyoming. He returned to Brookfield in 2001 and managed Thunder Bay Grill until 2013 when he left after he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. That did not slow him down. He enjoyed "picking" and found all kinds of old treasures to buy and sell. He traveled to Florida and Canada, among other places.
Tim will be remembered for his Love of Life, treasured friendships, uplifting spirit and positive attitude. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed.
