TIMOTHY "TIMMY" SCOTT CLARK

ROWLAND — "A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again." — Maya Angelou

Timothy "Timmy" Scott Clark, 37, of Rowland, left this world suddenly and too soon on Feb. 28, 2023. He was born in Lumberton on April 6, 1985, to Timothy Hunt and Effie Denean Clark Hunt. He was married to the love of his life, Jessica Lowery Clark and shared two amazing children, Laylon and Abby Clark. He grew up lovingly surrounded by family and friends.

If you knew Timmy as a child, you knew that as soon as he could walk, he was bouncing a basketball. His favorite basketball teammate was his father, Timmy Hunt. His love for this sport was unparalleled and he was a super fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Boston Celtics. Evidence of his love are the names of his two yorkies, Kentucky and Boston. The hardest part of recovery from two ankle surgeries was staying off the court and he laced up his sneakers as soon as possible after both. Whether playing with "The Wrecking Crew," a game of pickup or watching live, basketball was in his blood and always brought him joy.

A 2003 graduate of South Robeson High School, Timmy served his country in the Air Force Reserves and later received both bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2007 and 2009. Most recently Timmy worked as the Athletic Program Supervisor for the City of Lumberton's Recreation Department. During his time with Lumberton Rec, Timmy was able to positively influence and reach innumerable children, volunteering much of his time to coaching various sports and refereeing games. He also volunteered with the L.I.F.E. Mentoring Program further expanding his impact on the community.

With all his professional achievements, Timmy's proudest moments were when he became a father to Laylon and later Abby, and husband to his devoted wife, Jessica. Jessica could not talk about "her Timmy" without a smile on her lips and a sparkle in her eye. They have a perfect love story. A sneaker fanatic who enjoyed collecting shoes and loved wings from Wild Wing Café, Timmy also loved to travel. Timmy and Jessica had the motto that life was short and could change in the blink of an eye, so they would enjoy their life through many experiences, specifically through travel. Although his favorite method of traveling was cruising to exotic locations, he also loved "glamping" with his family at the beach and other locations.

To celebrate his life while mourning his passing, Timmy is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; children, Laylon and Abby; and parents, Timothy "Big Timmy" Hunt and Effie Denean Clark Hunt.

Three months ago, he lovingly welcomed his sister, Deanna Earl (Jamaine) and their children, Alana (Travis), Aaliyah, Daniyah, and Jayvon. He is also survived by his grandparents, Clyde and Judy Hatcher; a special uncle, Donald (Pam) Hunt; special aunts, Teresa (Brian) Dial, and Amanda Bullard; special cousins, Nolan Hunt, and Lindsay Chavis; special sister-in-law, Amy (Kerry) Locklear, and their children, Chayton and Alayna; mother-in-law, Loraine Lowery (Ande); father-in-law, Lacy Lowery (Jackie), special friends, Lee Hammonds, Kyle Rhodes, Brandon Regan, AJ Kinsley, and Josh Smith; childhood friends, Matthew Oxendine, Reginald McCall, Bo McCallum, and Brian Locklear; fur babies, Kentucky and Boston; fur brother, Smoke; and a host of beloved family, cousins, friends, and coworkers.

Timmy was preceded in death by his grandfather, Levern Hunt; grandmother, Faye Oxendine; aunt, Becky Hunt; and uncle, Kevin Hunt.

A celebration of Timmy's life will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Bill Sapp Recreation Center, 1100 North Cedar St. Lumberton. A time for visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. An overflow location will be available at Pine Street Senior Center, 801 N. Pine St., Lumberton.

A celebration of life basketball tribute will be held following the memorial service at Bill Sapp Recreation Center. Flowers are welcome or a donation may be made to: Friends of Recreation Foundation 5000 White Oak Dr. Lumberton, NC 28358.

Timmy voluntarily raised funds for youth in Robeson County to experience basketball outside the county at tournaments. These funds will be specifically used for these purposes.

Timmy, we love you to infinity.
