Timothy “Eric” Armijo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2024.
Timothy "Eric" Armijo passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bakersfield. Rosary will be at 9am with viewing immediately after. Funeral Mass will start at 10am. Gravesite services to follow at Historic Union Cemetery.

Eric was born January 16, 1955 to Theodore "Ted" Armijo II and Petra (Mojica) Armijo. A lifelong resident of Bakersfield, Eric graduated from Foothill High School in 1973 and also attended Bakersfield College.

One of Eric's biggest interests was football. He played in high school and would go on to coach teams at the Boys & Girls Clubs, Hort Elementary School, and East Bakersfield High School. He loved cheering on family members at their high school games and at BC. He was also a longtime member of Raider Nation. No matter what, he cheered them on with a passion.

It was fitting that the Raiders moved to Las Vegas, as that was Eric's favorite destination. He would visit there as often as he could, preferring downtown to the Strip. While the goal was always to 'hit it big', just being there and having a good time with various family members and friends was the ultimate reward.

Eric is survived by his wife Christy; sons Joe Alvarado, Jake (Crystal) Armijo, and Jared Armijo; grandchildren Madison, Christopher, Emily, and Jacob Armijo; mother Petra Armijo; sisters Valorie Alvarado and Denise (Michael) Kent; and many nieces and nephews.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Ted Armijo II; brother, Ted Armijo III; brother-in law, Bobby Alvarado; and father-in-law, Ralph Alvarado.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nirav Desai for the care he provided to Eric, and to Lee Vasquez, a best friend who was like a brother.

Eric was my cousin as well as my friend. I could always count on him. He got me my first driving job 40 years ago and I'm still a driver. He was a die hard Raiders fan and loved "them Rams" (lol, not). We always had great conversations and had so many laughs. I'm sure going to miss him.

Eric I don´t know even where to start. My favorite Cousin and my big brother. You were always there for me when I was a kid growing up taking me to my first Dodgers game, Disneyland, and many other places. Remembering the time you and David Pina were my corner men when I was boxing at strongbow the Friday night fights. My favorite times were hanging out with you and Lee and coaching at Fairfax little league baseball, Your awesome Halloween party´s Calling me on my birthday each year. I could go on forever all the things you did for me. I still can´t believe you are gone. I won´t say goodbye but I will say I will see you later so save a seat for me right next to you. I Love you big brother! Eric bon zipper! I´m rooting for your Raiders this year. Your little brother Davey.
