Timothy Finnegan Obituary

Timothy Joseph "Tim" Finnegan, 77, of Harrisburg, died May 21, 2024, at Brookdale Harrisburg, where he lived for more than three years. Tim was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2010. First it ravaged his body, then his mind.
He was a lovely man who enjoyed life and was always busy: shooting pool, gardening, dancing, listening to music, theater, fishing, travel, hunting, Tai Chi, spin classes, volunteering. Parkinson's robbed him of all of these things, although his sweetness and sense of humor remained.
Tim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Chris Finnegan; his son Tim of Harrisburg (Alisa Dory); three sisters: Pat Young of Michigan, Kathy of Virginia, and Suellen Parsio (John) of Ohio and South Carolina; and brother and sister-in-law Ed and Pat Bogdanski of Montana. The son of the late Stephen P. Finnegan Sr. and Lois Copeland Finnegan, his younger brothers Steve "Skip" and Danny preceded him in death, as did his brother-in-law Bob Young and nephew Mark Metzler. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and by wonderful friends, including Anita Stabile and Patrick Kielty.
A reluctant Army veteran (he was drafted), Tim worked for the PA Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Quality, for many years. He was a graduate of Gannon University and earned a master's in environmental health from East Tennessee State University. He was a lifelong learner and loved to read and travel. Museums were big on his bucket list.
He was a past president and secretary of the Lower Paxton Township Lions Club and delivered Meals on Wheels in Allison Hill. Besides his stint as Santa Claus for the Cub Scouts, he was president of the PTO at Phillips Elementary and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education (PAGE). These activities are just examples.
His family thanks his doctors at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center and the staff at Brookdale for their loving care of Tim. There are no words.
Tim's close friends and family have been grieving his loss for a long time, so there will be no memorial service.
In his memory, go out and have some fun! Hug your SO! Volunteer!
Arrangements are under the care of the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

The smile on Tim's face was the normal for him and he wore it all the time when ever I saw him even while his head was turned sideways from he parkinson's. He was just an all around nice guy and he will be missed by many including all his fellow Lions Club members. Farewell Tim and I am glad that you are no longer in pain. What you don't see in his picture was his loving wife Chris who I photoshopped out while she looked at him as he was the apple of her eye.

We first met Tim at brookdale where our mom, Mickey, has been a resident for two years. We didn´t know the vibrant Tim described in the obituary but we did know the Tim who always had a sweet smile for us every time we saw him. RIP Tim. You will be missed. And our sincere condolences to u Chris. Sincerely, The Hudson Family

So many nice memories come to mind in learning about the recent passing of Tim Finnegan. My husband Bill and I shared many good times, meals, and celebrations with Tim and his dear Chris. We will always remember him as he was BEFORE Parkinson's. My God hold Tim in the palm of his hand. Edie Walsh

We are so sorry to hear the sad news about Tim. He was indeed a sweet person. We all had fun getting together for dinners, evenings at a winery, and New Year´s Eve in our basement. Also, we still have and decorate with little pieces of stones he gave us. Chris, we know you will miss him deeply.
