Catlett, VA – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Timothy John Gadell, 74, of Catlett, Virginia, who passed away on May 22, 2025. Born on July 7, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, Tim was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful brother, and cherished friend.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Edward Gadell and Margaret Nell Bles Gadell; his brother, Philip Joseph Gadell; and his beloved wife of 54 years, Linda Cason Gadell, who passed away just weeks before him.
He is survived by his children, Nicole Yvonne Gadell of Williamsburg, KY, and Timothy John Gadell (Adina Strauss) of Virginia Beach, VA; and his grandchildren, Kelsey Anne Ciarrocca of Galveston, TX, Courtney Marie Ciarrocca of Charlottesville, VA, Mya Julia Gadell and Kai Noah Gadell of Virginia Beach, VA.
He is also survived by his siblings: Carlas Gadell Starling (David), Laura Gadell Carroll (Phil), Joyce Gadell Burrows, Samuel Gadell, Thomas Gadell (Martha Wampler), Mary Roesener (Stephen), Francis Gadell (Sondra Peat), and Michael Gadell; his sister-in-law, Barbara Westbrook Gadell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
After his 1969 graduation from Madison High School (where he is still a record holder for hurdles in track) he spent his life working as a butcher, most recently as the owner of Gadell's Processing. Tim was hard-working and dedicated. Professionally, he was known for his attention to detail and quality, reliability. He also had endless humor and compassion for his customers and employees alike.
Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions, which included collecting firearms, raising exotic birds, taxidermy, woodworking, horses, RV camping, grilling and smoking, farming, fishing and hunting. Tim was happiest atop a tractor or a mower, taking care of animals, hunting - no groundhog was safe on his farm, and spending time with the family and friends he loved.
If you knew Tim, you knew he loved to laugh-he was hysterically funny and full of unforgettable "Tim-isms." He belted out Willie Nelson songs in the truck, adored nature, and had a strong distaste for technology. He took great joy in restoring his father's old El Camino and his beloved tractor, "Caitlyn." He loved food-cooking it and eating it-and he never met a stranger. Whether chatting with a bank teller or a new customer, he considered everyone a friend.
In the weeks since Linda's passing, he said he had realized how many good friends he had. Tim was loyal, stubborn, gentile, and genuine - deeply proud of his family, his business, and his sobriety.
He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A Celebration of Life for both Tim and Linda will be held Saturday, May 31st at 11am at Park Valley Church, 4500 Waverly Farm Drive, Haymarket, VA.
