Timothy Norman Gooch, or "Pop Pop", age 71, of Greenville, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25th at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 29th, at 4:00 PM, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville, NC.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Care for their support and incredible compassion as he transitioned to his Heavenly home.
He was born on May 3, 1954, in Apex, NC to Otha and Peggy Gooch. Tim was a country boy who loved spending time with his brothers, sister, and lots of cousins.
Tim started working at NC Mutual Drug in 1972 as a part time warehouse employee during his senior year of high school. He loved it so much that he spent the next 46 years as a Warehouse Manager and then a Systems Analyst until his retirement in 2018. He was known for his steady demeanor and incredible work ethic.
He married Sharon Rogers Gooch on June 29, 1974, and they created a bond that many only dream of having. They raised two children and exemplified their marriage vows every day for the 51 years they were married. He was an avid NASCAR fan, could grow any vegetable on the planet, and loved to fish. But his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends, and brag on his grandson!
Tim is survived by his wife, Sharon Gooch; children, Jennifer Gooch Smith (Kelley), and Dustin Timothy Gooch; and his beloved grandson, Timothy Owen Smith; brother, Phillip Earl Gooch (Connie); and his precious nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Otha and Peggy Gooch; siblings, Brenda Feeney, Anthony Gooch, and Matthew Gooch.
He was a quiet soul, but his calm and gentle presence was always a comfort to the people who loved him. Even though he was quiet, if you listened closely, he would grace you with a one-liner that would crack you up and possibly make you blush! If the world had more Tim's, it would certainly be a better place!
