Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Oct. 2, 2024.
SALEM - Timothy Wayne Hippely, passed away at his home on September 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born August 14, 1967, Tim was a longtime resident of Salem, having been born here and was proud to call it home. No matter where life took him, Salem was always the beacon that called him back.
Tim was loved and cherished by many. He lived his life for his family and friends. There was nothing too big or too small for him, as he would gladly offer to do it to help his loved ones. He leaves behind a beloved mom, Kay (Cook) Goterba of Salem, as well as his daughter, Nicole (Hippely) Evans of Alburquerque, N.M., both of whom he loved endlessly, and was devoted to. He is also survived by a sister, Tami (Ken) Combs and nephew, Justin Dennison both of Salem. There are also numerous cousins, great nieces, and friends which he considered family.
He is proceeded in death by many beloved family members, his dad, Charles Hippely; aunt and uncle, Bob and Shirley Bartholow; stepdad, Jim Rice; grandmother and grandfather, Thelma and Harry Sayre; a nephew, Richard Dennison; and his beloved rottweilers, Dude and Cappone.
Tim was a proud 1985 graduate of United Local and he later went on to motorcycle school in Phoenix, Ariz. With his education he found a work ethic like no other. He spent many years working beside his dad and his stepdad in their business, and eventually became a long-haul truck driver, which fueled his love for travel, having been able to visit all 48 continental states. Traveling became one of his many passions in life.
Tim was a man of many passions but, nothing came before his family and friends. His love for motorcycles and rottweilers were a close second. Having been a member of the Abates Region Zero, you could always count on Tim to be willing to do a poker run for people in need. He also loved to go to Sturgis Bike Week. Having had many rottweilers in his life, he began rescuing animals from shelters and working with rottweiler rescues.
No stranger to adversity and struggle, he had a determination and grit like no other, which he used fiercely to take on anything that life threw his way. He had an optimism about life that helped him overcome everything life threw at him, as well as at times a little bit of sarcasm to let the struggles know he was stronger. His determination and willpower took him far in life, especially with his illness.
Tim was a born-again Christian, who was recently baptized, so his family is finding strength and peace in knowing that he is back with family and loved ones and riding the open roads again. All while guiding them just as he did in life.
Friends and family will be received from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home where a funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Jolly officiating.
