The Life and Legacy of Timothy Lee Howard
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, The Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary , and young men stumble and fall; but those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV Bible.
Timothy "Tim" Howard passed into his new life on January 23, 2026. His Heavenly Father whispered, "Come home with me son, I will show you how to mount up on wings like an eagle, how to run and not faint."
God called Tim home with his mother and sister by his side. Tim was born the fourth son of five children to Morris Ira Howard Jr. (deceased) and Hilda Blanche Williams-Howard, in "Batestown," Dumfries Virginia, on June 4, 1954.
As a youngster, Tim attended the Petersburg Training School in Petersburg, Virginia, where he embraced learning with enthusiasm and curiosity. He graduated from the co-educational boarding school with certificates in food service, glassmaking, and woodworking-skills that reflected his creativity and dedication to craftsmanship.
Tim was more than his talents; he was a cherished presence in the community. Known for his vibrant personality and unwavering authenticity. Tim lived with a sense of divine timing-defying labels and sharing his uniqueness with everyone he encountered. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen and valued, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
To know Tim was to experience his humor, kindness, and gentle spirit. He brought joy into everyday moments, offering laughter when it was needed most and compassion when words fell short. Tim lived his true self unapologetically, inspiring others to do the same. His life was a testament to strength, resilience, love, and the beauty of individuality.
Tim began his walk with Christ as a child at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in
Triangle, Virginia, where the foundation of his faith was laid. Later in life, he continued to grow spiritually at the historic Little Union Baptist Church in Dumfries, Virginia. At Little Union, Tim served faithfully and wholeheartedly. He was a dedicated member of the Usher Board, greeting and assisting others with kindness and grace. His love for worship led him to join the Men's Choir, where he lifted his voice in praise. Tim also gave his time and energy to the Kitchen Ministry, always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. His commitment to serving others reflected his deep devotion to God and his church family, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Tim leaves behind cherished memories with his devoted mother, Hilda Howard; his brothers, Donald Howard and Alvin Howard; his sister, Tywana Perry; his sister-in-law, Deloris Howard; his brother-in-law, Earl Perry; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Andrew Sylvester "Vessie" Howard. We, his family, will miss him deeply and keep him in our hearts forever. Pray with us that God will grant us the strength to press on until we too shall "Mount up on Wings" and abide with our Precious Lord.
