Obituary published on Legacy.com by King-Tears Mortuary, Inc. - Austin on Mar. 29, 2024.
Timothy Odell Jackson was born December 25,1961 in Austin Texas to his late parents Mat Jackson and Bertha Jackson(McCradic). He grew up in the heart of the Montopolis neighborhood with his two brothers and five sisters. He went on to attend Del Valle High School where he was well known and loved. Tim was an athlete, and his preferred sport was basketball, in which he excelled. He would often be seen playing against some of Austin's finest basketball players at many local basketball courts around town. During his Senior year, he casually met Cheryl Martin in the hallway of Del Valley High School. Tim and Cheryl became better acquainted and soon fell in love.
On March 12,1989 Tim made what he would often call it," the best decision of his life." On this day Tim surrendered to God and was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Being in Christ became his NEW identity, which was his greatest treasure. Shortly after embarking on his new spiritual journey in the Lord, Tim married the love of his life, Cheryl Jackson (Martin) on March 16,1989. Together they raised two daughters and one son in the faith.
Tim was a hard worker. He began his career as Class A Commercial Truck Driver in 1990 and diligently worked in the industry with over 30 years of experience. He loved to drive. He often would stress the importance to "Know where you at!" Taking care of his family and blessing the house of God was his primary focus.
Tim often dedicated much of his down time to Kingdom and Community work. His hobbies included cars, grilling BBQ, and the Texas Longhorns. He enjoyed the simple things of life like watching the rain on the front porch, writing songs to the Lord, watching his martial arts and western movies with his wife, and having personal prayer bible studies. Tim was a Humble, easy-going man that was steadfast and not easily swayed. He saw no need to flock to crowds, yet he could talk to anyone, never leaving them feeling a stranger. It could be months or even years since you last spoke with him, and he would pick up in love right where he left off. Tim believed in the power of Love and Forgiveness. He was a man that stood firm on those principals that affirm who Christ called him to be. In Tim's later years he blissfully enjoyed spending as much time as he could being an active Grandfather and Godfather. Tat 'T is what they call him!
On March 12, 2024, Tim Jackson answered the call home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is preceded in transition by both his Mother and Father. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Jackson, Daughters Tiara Jackson, and Raenesha Jackson, Son Timothy I Jackson, Grandson Kairo I Jackson. Siblings; Pastor Bobby (BJ) Jackson wife Emily, Deborah Minnieck, William Jackson, Bertha Jackson, Marilyn Jackson, Marie(ReRe) Jackson, Linda Burt husband John, Brenda Tarver, Life Friend, and Brother Otis Benford and a host of beloved kinfolk as he would often call them.
Tim Jackson, a dear Husband, Father, Brother, Son and most importantly, a Saint of the Most High God. We all will deeply miss Tim Jackson. Nevertheless, we take courage in knowing he is safe and at peace in the arms of the Lord. We thank and praise God for his Life and the time he was given to this world, such a gift will always be cherished and NEVER FORGOTTEN.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. (Psalms 116:15)
