Timothy L. Jawitz, 51, of Deerfield, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Born in Vietnam on November 6, 1973, he was the son of Robert and Laura (Fields) Jawitz and spent his childhood in Freedom, New Hampshire.
Anyone who met Tim for even five minutes will know that he is not someone whose life could be captured in a conventional obituary. Anyone who did not meet him missed the chance to encounter one of the most brilliant, loving, outrageously unique humans to have appeared on this planet. From earliest childhood, Tim showed a passion and talent for figuring out how things work and finding creative solutions to all manner of problems. After graduating from Kennett High School (North Conway, NH), he completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Western New England College (Springfield, MA) in 1997. His lifelong love of recreational vehicles led him to Coburg, Oregon to pursue his dream of working in the RV industry but his strong ties to family and friends led him back to New Hampshire where he applied his mechanical genius to jobs in HVAC design, bus driving and maintenance, and automotive repair. With his wife, Sharon French, he designed and built a house in Deerfield, NH where they lived with their children, Maya and Khai. Tim's love of fixing things and helping people kept him busy with endless projects, frequently offering expert advice to one person on his phone even while completing a job for someone else. His resourcefulness and ingenuity defied logic and professional carpenters, mechanics, and plumbers who encountered his work would often scratch their heads in astonishment at the cleverness and efficiency of his inventions. Tim also loved camping with his family in his Airstream trailer. In recent years, one of Tim's greatest joys was the conversion of a tour bus into a mobile home. The destination sign on the front of the bus read "Nowhere" and Tim delighted in telling people that once it reached the destination you simply had to read the sign as "Now here." This past summer, Tim proudly drove the bus to the Lobster Buoy Campsites in Maine where he had developed a close community of friends and admirers over many years of annual family trips. The driver's window on the bus was equipped with a special seat for his constant companion, a miniature poodle named Lola who was the most recent in a line of beloved dogs who Tim doted upon throughout his life. Tim will always be remembered for his laughter. He loved a good joke (and many bad ones) and found humor in almost every situation, perhaps especially when it was least appropriate. He was a loyal and devoted friend to dozens and dozens of people and would drop anything to help someone in need, sometimes calling or dropping by on elderly acquaintances just to see if they needed anything or to provide them with a little company.
Besides his parents, Timothy is survived by his wife, Sharon French; daughter Maya Jawitz; son, Khai Jawitz; brother, Andrew Jawitz and wife Alyce; step-father, Gordon Cormack; cousins, Benji, Jennifer, Stephanie, & Chris Bogin; uncle, Fred Bogin; parents-in-law, William & Lillian French; brother-in-law, Joel French and wife Stephanie; nephews, Ulysses "Sam", Brandon; niece, Brenna and a host of friends he considered family.
Services will be held at a later date. Roan Family Funeral Home - Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Timothy's memory to Mary's Dogs Rescue and Adoption, PO Box 241, Northwood, NH 03261.
