Timothy Patrick Long

Timothy Patrick Long, 50, of Hamilton, NJ, died suddenly on Sunday, June 22, 2025 in a motor vehicle accident. Tim, as he was affectionately known, was a Trenton Police Officer for nearly 25 years. He was a member of the Trenton PBA Local 11, where he also served for 7 years on its Executive Board. He was the coordinator for the Trenton Police Honor Guard for many years.
Tim was a graduate of Nottingham High School Class of 1993. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1993 to 1999 achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Service Ribbon W/1*, Overseas Service Ribbon W/1*, Marine Security Guard Ribbon, 2 letters of appreciation, Rifle Qualification Marksman Badge, Pistol Qualification Marksman Badge, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Tim volunteered for the Special Olympics. He was a long time trainer/drill instructor at the Police Academy, also for the most recent recruit class.
Tim coached youth sports for his kids teams, coaching football, baseball, soccer, softball, and even T-Ball.
He was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and the NY Mets. He passed on his love for Comic Superheroes to his daughter.
Tim along with a group of his friends gathered yearly on Thanksgiving for many years to play a game of football.
He was dedicated to his job as a Trenton Police Officer, a proud Marine Corps Veteran, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to so many.
His loss is deeply felt by the community where he touched many lives. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Timothy is the son of the late Mary Lou (Foy) Ketterer; and brother-in-law of the late Nicholas Moore.
He is survived by his father, Gary Dwayne Long and wife Carol; his maternal grandfather, Leo Foy; his wife Stella Teresa (Moore) Long; his two children, Evalyn Sophia Long-Airman First Class, and Jackson Wyatt Long; his two siblings, Kyle Anthony Long, and Amanda Marie and husband Kevin Ott; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matthew M. and Emma Jane Moore, a brother-in-law, Matthew Moore and wife Mayerine; two sisters-in-law, Bridget Benton and husband Jeff McMillan, Dana Ryan Gillette and husband Scott Gillette, and Melissa Moore; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and many many friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. Christian funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton, NJ. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ.
