Timothy Patrick Murphy, age 72, passed away at his rural Chilhowee, Missouri home, on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. Timothy's wishes were to be cremated. A service or celebration of life is to be determined at a later date. Fond memories and condolences can be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.
Tim was born on February 27, 1952 in Louisiana, Missouri and his family later moved to St. Louis. He joined the US Air Force in 1970 as a jet engine mechanic and retired in 1991. He married his wife, Kathleen, in 1973. Tim was based in Oklahoma, Maine, England, and California during his years in the Air Force and they moved to Chilhowee, Missouri after his retirement.
He enjoyed building fine furniture and woodworking, model airplane building, reading, taking care of his neighbors, restoring cars, and taking care of the homestead. He never turned down a request for fixing tractors, helping herd cows, and fixing cars. He also enjoyed fixing and building his computers. And one of his passions was cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.
He served time on the local road board and liked to be known as the only local politician to vote himself out of office. He fought to bring high speed internet to Henry County and kept everyone on their toes until the orange flags finally neared the house.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (Curry) Murphy of South Portland, Maine, his brother, James Kevin Murphy (St. Louis), his sister, Kathleen Floyd (Mark) of Imperial, MO, and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, William Daniel Murphy, his mother, Nida See, a brother, Dennis Michael, a brother, Matthew Daniel, a brother, John William, and a sister, Margaret Ellen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
