In Loving Memory of Timothy Greg Porter February 16, 1960 – July 6, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Timothy “Tim” Porter — beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and veteran — who left this world on July 6, 2025, at the age of 65.

Tim is survived by his wife, Cindy (Knuth); daughters Shannon (Brian) Maldonado, Tammy (Jerry) Yeager, Stephanie Strong, and Michelle (Dane) Roybal; sisters Roxann Ainsworth and Stacy (Gene) Schick; brother Ed (Diane) Porter; many loving nieces and nephews; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren — all of whom will continue to honor his legacy by living with the values he held dear: honesty, integrity, and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Guy and Bill-Craig, and many other cherished family members and dear friends.

Following his military service in the U.S. Army, Tim dedicated over 30 years to growing his business, Painting by Tim Porter, in Colorado. In the last decade of his career, he found a trusted friend and partner in Evan Matthews as they worked together under the name T&E Painting.

Yet Tim’s true lifelong passion was always sports — especially football, hockey, and golf — which he cherished not only as a way to relax but as a way to bond with family and friends. A devoted sports enthusiast, he was a proud fan of the Denver Broncos, the University of Michigan (“Go Blue”), the Colorado Avalanche, and the Tampa Bay Lightning. After relocating to Florida with Cindy, he was especially proud to serve as an in-house painter at Amalie Arena for the Lightning.

Weekends were often filled with what he loved most: watching golf in the spring and summer, and football and hockey in the fall and winter. He also gave back to the game he loved by volunteering at golf championships and supporting his friend Rick Timm through many years with U.S. Kids Golf and PGA Junior Golf. With an encyclopedic knowledge of players and their histories, Tim could talk sports for hours — always eager to share insights and tidbits.

Above all, Tim was most proud of his family. He deeply hoped to pass on his love of sports to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Meadow Oaks Club House, 13125 Fairwinds Rd, Hudson, FL, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Rest peacefully, Tim. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
