Timothy Rineer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 3, 2025.
Timothy Rineer, Sr., age 77, of Georgetown, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on August 28th, 2025 surrounded by love.

A Claymont Delaware native, Tim proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Vietnam War from 1967–1968. After his service, he worked as an industrial electrician with Sun Oil Company for 27 years.

Tim was married to the late Mary Ellen Rineer for 33 years, and together they shared a loving family and life. He was also preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

He is survived by his beloved children, Timothy Rineer, Jr. (Amber), and Rachel Hoopes; his brother, Jim; many grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, Tim loved cheering for his team, spending time at the beach, and exploring the mysteries of outer space. He also enjoyed collecting rare coins and learning about their history, a passion he shared with family and friends.

A service with military honors will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in Tim's memory to Friends of Delaware Veterans, Inc., 802 Silver Lake Blvd., Suite 100, Dover, DE 19904, a nonprofit that provides direct assistance to Delaware veterans and their families.
