Tim passed away June 30, 2025. He was born July 21, 1952 to James and Muriel Harmon, the third of five children, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Indianapolis. He attended Broad Ripple High School and was a man of many talents – carpenter, widely acknowledged expert in architectural restoration, successful entrepreneur, visual artist, writer, and community activist. He spent many years on the Near East Side of Indy where he owned and operated an architectural salvage store called Tim & Company’s Another Fine Mess. He was a well-known and beloved figure on East Tenth Street, giving much of himself to the community with grace and good humor. He could often be found having lunch at the Tick Tock Lounge where he was willing to engage anyone on any subject. He was a prime mover in the establishment of the Cottage Home Neighborhood Association, having lived in the area and renovating several old homes there. His publishing venture, Restoration Press, showcased up and coming Indiana poets. He published two books of his own – A Day in the Life of a Very Bad Person and Boomer Boy: My Normal Life. He opened the Teeny Statue of Liberty Museum, a quirky collection of memorabilia inspired by Lady Liberty, which drew visitors from around the world. He is survived by his son Avi Bailey Harmon, his life partner Julie Crow, his former wife Maribeth Bailey, his sisters Christine, Margaret, and Mary Kay, and his half-brother Thomas Harmon. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 20th, from 12:00 noon until the early evening in the Cottage Home Neighborhood’s Community Space located at 714 Highland Avenue. The event will include food, a program of speakers, and live music. The intent is to create a “mini” version of the neighborhood’s popular block party. Information about the event will be available online on the neighborhood’s FB page.
