Obituary of Tina Curtis Empol
Tina Curtis Empol passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2023 at her home in Carmel Valley, CA.
Tina was born on September 6, 1961 in Reno, NV to William Tyson and Susan Francis Scudder. She graduated from Wooster High School in Reno in 1979. She then moved to Los Angeles where she met her husband Mitch Empol (divorced) and later moved with him to Corvallis, Oregon where she attended classes at Oregon State University. In 2019 she moved to the family ranch in Carmel Valley, CA where she has lived for the last 4 years. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Dave) Klingler, her niece Emersen Klingler and nephew David Klingler all from Campbell, CA and her aunt Sunny Minedew, cousins Chris (Julie) Minedew, Ben Minedew and Nate Minedew all from the Reno, NV area.
Tina was a confident and colorful personality that was bright, creative and quick witted. She was passionate about her beliefs and was always game for a spirited conversation on any subject, especially politics. That same passion led her to run for a serve as a City Council member in Corvallis, Oregon. Tina was known to have a fun loving imagination and was an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (known as Shoshana) and was a lifelong Trekkie (Star Trek fan). In addition she worked as a belly dancer at various venues and events for over 30 years were she was know for her colorful costumes. Tina was also a compassionate lover of animals especially her 2 dogs Zoey and Jet and horse Gracie.
A Celebration of Life, to be held in Carmel Valley, will be scheduled later in the year. Donations can be made in Tina's name to the Carmel Valley Trail and Saddle Club.
