Tobias “Toby” D. Lindblade, 84, of Rockford, IL, passed away at Lincolnshire Place on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Toby was born August 18, 1941, in Rockford, IL to Sigfred H. and Pearl (Carlson) Lindblade. He graduated in 1960 from Rockford East High School and attended Orange Coast Community College. He was employed with Chrysler in Belvidere for 36 dedicated years.
Toby married Janet L. Kistler on October 25, 1963, at Court Street United Methodist Church. He had a great passion for the outdoors and enjoyed the many activities it had to offer. Toby appreciated nature, watching birds, gardening, boating and playing golf. He was an avid fan and proud supporter of the Chicago Bears. Above all else, Toby cherished his time spent making memories with family and many lifelong friends from high school and new friendships made along the way. He will be forever remembered for his kind and caring way of life. Toby would do anything for anyone in need.
Those left to honor Toby’s memory include his wife, Janet Lindblade; daughters, Rebecca (David) Engelke and Sheryl Lindquist; 4 granddaughters, Amanda (Kenny) Conlon, Ashley Portwine, Kaitlin Engelke (Ethan Bock) and Kelsey Engelke; 6 great-grandchildren, Linnea, Willow, Charlie, Adeline, Zoe and Oakley; niece, Dawn Leonard and nephew, Kevin Lindblade. He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Nyema Lindblade and 2 brothers, Roger and Lindor Lindblade.
The Lindblade family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Lincolnshire Place and Sanctuary hospice for their care and compassion.
In honor of Toby’s wishes, private family services will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. Final resting place will be in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Toby’s name to Klehm Arboretum in Rockford.
