Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory LTD - Mulford ChapelRichard “Dick” C. Barton, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Rockford. He was born on November 2, 1929, to Charles and Dorothy (Zander) Barton, in Rockford.
Dick worked at Rockford (Screw) Products Corporation, retiring in 1993 after 45 years; he met Wendy Swanson there.
Dick and Wendy were married on June 21, 1986.
Dick loved to play cards, have a beer, and do crafty woodworking.
Dick is survived by his wife Wendy; son Terry and his sons Chris, Ben, and Andrew; daughters Sue (Peder Svengine) and Lori (Jimmy Stewart) and her daughters Jalica (son Sylas) and DeAnna; sister, Mary Bressler; brother, Bill and his loyal dogs, Topper and Shyloh. Proceeded by his parents; his brother, Gordon; and his sister, Marge.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Ave, Rockford, IL 61108. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to an animal shelter of your choosing or to Alpine Lutheran Church. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
