Toby Devick, 68, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:15 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Timber Creek Cemetery at 11:30 A.M. with a graveside service. Memorials in Toby's name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Toby Warren Devick was born on October 27, 1955 to Mearle and Lucille (Sturtz) Rasmussen. His birth father passed at an early age and Lucille was married to Clair Devick who then adopted Toby and raised him as his own son alongside others to make a blended family. Toby grew up in Marshalltown and later graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1973.
Toby began a family of his own and raised four children, Tiffany, Trisha, Tia, and Tyler. He worked for many years as a machinist for Fisher Controls and Bruin Manufacturing where he would later retire. He was a member of the Marshall County Izaac Walton League. In his free time, Toby enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping with his family, going mushroom hunting, going to concerts and listening to music. He was also known to be a Jeep enthusiast.
Toby is survived by his children, Tiffany (Jason) Madison, Trisha (Cuyler) Rubbo, Tia (Eric) Frydendall and Tyler (Amber) Devick; his grandchildren, Tristan Tiernan, Kaitlyn Tiernan, Jase Madison, Mackenzie Rubbo, Chase Rubbo, Aubrey Frydendall, Lilah Frydendall, Alice Davis and Thomas Devick; great-granddaughter Arya Tiernan; his siblings, Dennis (Betty) Devick, Diane Devick, Tedd (Marilyn) Devick and Nadine (Clelland) Looney; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his birth father, Mearle Rasmussen; his parents, Clair and Lucille Devick; and his brother, Bruce Devick.
