Toby Dwight Meadows, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 14, 1953, in Bladen County, Toby dedicated his life to his family and community.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lula Mae West Meadows, with whom he shared nearly 51 years of marriage. Toby was a devoted father to his sons, Toby Deran Meadows and his wife Andrea, and Neal Dudley Meadows. He was also a proud grandfather to Kaia Meadows, Levi Meadows, and Mason Meadows, who brought immense joy to his life. Toby is survived by his siblings: Sandra Carter, Diane Coletti and her husband John, Julius Meadows and his wife Ann, Dale Meadows and his wife Deborah, and John Meadows who will remember him not only as a brother but as an unwavering source of support and love. As well as his sister-in-law Patsy Meadows, his aunt Doris Edwards and his special aunt, Ellen Flores, who also held a significant place in his heart. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that will forever cherish their time with "Uncle Toby".
Toby's life was marked by his warm spirit and generosity. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Nellie Walters Meadows, as well as three brothers: Mike Meadows, Charles Meadows, Gad Meadows, his sister Flora Ines, as well as his brother-in-law Daryl Carter and will be remembered for the profound love he shared with them.
To honor his memory, a visitation will be held on August 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen-Gaskins, 800 N. Main Street, Bladenboro, NC 28320. This will be followed by a funeral service at Grace Baptist Church in Bladenboro at 11:00 AM on August 9, 2025, with Reverend Arthur Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Meadows Cemetery in Bladenboro. Pallbearers for the service will be Tony Caulk, Austin Pittman, Danny Williams, Jason Meadows, Levi Meadows, and Adam Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be DJ Carter and Mason Meadows.
Toby Dwight Meadows will be remembered as a remarkable individual whose legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
