Todd William Haefer
Of Scandinavia, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at home. He was born in Waukesha WI on May 14, 1958, to the late Robert and Audrey (Kasehamer) Haefer. On September 19, 1992, he married Vicki Palmer. Todd graduated from high school in Minocqua WI. He was actively engaged with music throughout his life; he played trombone in high school and was in a jazz trio. Todd graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communication from UW La Crosse. In college he played in a punk band called, Your Missing Socks. He played guitar, trombone, and sang vocals. Todd was the music director for the university's WLSU station.
Todd started his career in journalism at the News Chronicle, in Green Bay WI, as a general reporter and photographer. He was a Crime and Courts reporter for the Oshkosh Northwestern, then was employed at Krause Publication in Iola, Wisconsin. He spent thirteen years writing a syndicated column for USA Today-Wisconsin called, the Beer Man. During this time, he published a book on Wisconsin's beer scene titled, Beer Man's Wisconsin. Todd currently was the editor of the newsletter for the International Mercury Owners Association. His many hobbies and interests included feeding and bird watching; researching the different music genres; cooking and writing.
He will be sadly missed by his wife: Vicki; siblings: Thomas (Tammy) Haefer; Laura (Rick Allen) Piacitelli; Doug (Susan Davis) Haefer; nieces: Rachel (Mikal) Sullivan; Jenna (Jesse) Schadrie; nephews; Alex Engstler ; Zach Engstler; father-in-law, John Palmer; brother-in-law, Dan Palmer; sister-in-law, Wanda Palmer (Jared Greeno); Judy Palmer (Henry), and other family and friends.
There will be a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Maple Crest Funeral Home from 1pm until 3pm. The family extends a special thank you to Krissie and Jackie, representatives of Moments Hospice, for their care and support of Todd. Their compassion and tenderness were appreciated.
