Mr. Todd Eric Kynard entered this life on Friday, July 27, 1962 to the excitement of his parents, Ms. Shirley M. (Allen) Kynard and James (JF) Smith.
Todd began his school life at Pickett Elementary and went on to graduate from the Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1980. Todd did make a quick pit stop at Macomber-Whitney Vocational Technical High School, only to realize that he wanted to play his final years of high school basketball with his cousin, Reuben, and his early childhood friends.
Todd then went on to attend Bluffton University but, missing his family and hometown, he decided to return home. Todd was a staunch supporter of the University of Michigan teams as well as the Las Vegas Raiders.
Todd had employment with various companies throughout his adult life including Hunt's and the Dana Corporation.
If you had the good fortune of knowing Todd, you knew how humble and friendly he was. Todd never met a stranger and could and would hold a conversation with anyone. If you lived anywhere in the Avondale/Detroit Ave., area, you, most likely, knew Todd. You also knew and realized that Todd was the same person day in and day out. Todd was never one to put on "airs" for anyone and it was well-known that he loved his family immensely, especially his mom!!
After a while Todd decided to relocate to Columbus, OH to raise his family. And, again Todd became so well known in Columbus, most people there just knew he was born and raised there his entire life. Todd continued to spend time between Columbus and Toledo until his untimely death.
In reminiscing about Todd with others, it was very touching to learn that Todd had so many nicknames, each of which was a term of endearment between Todd and that person! No matter what was needed, Todd was always willing to help, especially if he knew a meal was going to be provided in the end. He also became a chauffeur, chef and caregiver for his mom. Todd would joke about playing wheelchair bumper cars with his mom once she came home.
Todd will be missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Juanita Allen; son Arvell Lee; dad, JF Smith; maternal uncles Arthur, Lester, Willie and Joe Allen and his beloved maternal aunt Johnnie Hunt (whom he affectionately called John Brown).
He leaves to cherish his memory: son Tyler Kynard; mother Shirley Kynard; sisters Tracie Kynard, Narvis and Paris Smith; brother James Smith Jr.; grandson Tyler Jr; niece Sharell Crumby; great nephew Robert Woodard Jr., (Deucy); great niece Skye Akins (SkyBreezy); cousins (who were more like siblings) Reuben Hunt, Michael Allen, Deborah Pope and Darlene Hunt; life-long companion and best friend Arnelle Lee; his bonus family of friends: Jerome Halcomb; Reggie Knighten, Darryl Jones, Ralph (Flub) Butts, Sidney Thomas, the crew from Avondale and the entire 1979-80 Libbey Boys Basketball teammates.

RIH, I was next door neighbors with Todd we had good times drinking a beer or shooting 40 oz beer bottles with a BB gun.
