Todd Shirley Obituary

Todd Lejay Williams Shirley, known affectionately as Pooh to his friends and family, was a beacon of laughter and kindness in the lives of all who knew him. Born on June 4th, 1979, in the warm and welcoming city of San Antonio, Texas, Todd's journey on this earth came full circle as he passed away in the same city on August 1st, 2025, after a valiant battle with heart disease.

Todd was a man of faith, a devout Christian who lived his life with the same humor and joy he believed the Lord intended for all His children. He illuminated the paths of those around him with his infectious laughter and selfless nature, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

His education at Judson High School was filled with friends, fun, and the foundations of the witty character he would carry throughout his life. He was the life of every classroom, spreading cheer and comic relief, often reminding his classmates, as the great Milton Berle once said, "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door."

A true Texan at heart, Todd's spirit soared with the San Antonio Spurs during basketball season and the 49ers throughout football season. His enthusiasm for his teams was only eclipsed by his passion for spending time with his beloved family. His wife, Sonia Brock, was the love of his life, his partner in laughter and in faith. Together, they raised two wonderful children-Alexandria, Aries. He also did have a daughter named Amaya Copeland, who he loved very much. who inherited their father's kindness, humor, and love for family.

Todd's interests weren't limited to sports; he was a man who cherished every moment with his family, whether it was a quiet evening at home or an adventure out in the world. He had an uncanny ability to turn the mundane into the extraordinary, often joking that he was a magician at heart, though his only trick was turning frowns upside down.

Described by those who knew him as kind, funny, and selfless, Todd lived his life as a testament to these virtues. He was a man who could find the humor in any situation, a trait that endeared him to many. His laughter was a melody that echoed in the hearts of his loved ones, a tune they will carry with them forever.

Though Todd's time with us was cut short, his impact was profound. He taught us to embrace life with open arms, to cherish every giggle, every hug, and every moment of companionship. He was a man who knew that to live in the hearts of those we love is never to die. As Todd would often quip with a twinkle in his eye, "you got to laugh to keep from crying."

Today, as we bid farewell to Todd Lejay Williams Shirley, we celebrate the joy he brought into our lives. We remember a man who was not just the life of the party but the heart of his family, a man who loved deeply, laughed freely, and lived fully. Todd's memory will continue to be a blessing to us all.
