Bridgett Elizabeth Shirley, went to be with God on August 4, 2025, at the age of 67 years.
Bridgett was born in Kansas City Missouri on July 12, 1958. Despite family moving away from Kansas City proper, she much adored living and enjoying downtown Kansas City. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City Missouri.
She received her Bachelor's degree in Anthropology @ University of Missouri. She received her Master's degree in Education and her Juris Doctorate at University of Missouri Kansas City.
Bridgett was a gifted teacher/educator and attorney specializing in real estate law. She found great contentment and fulfillment in guiding her students both at the secondary level and at the university.
She found great satisfaction in her connections to her church through volunteer work, worship and the joy, spiritual insight and understanding she gained from her scriptural and religious studies. Bridgett was a lifelong learner.
She enjoyed being the family historian. She gave of her time by guiding and helping others. She had a deep passion for learning. Bridgett was kind, loving, and generous with her time. Hobbies included chatting with friends and family, gardening, cooking and sharing old and new recipes.
Bridgett married Miguel A. Sancho on December 30, 1995, they were married until Miguel's death on June 26, 2021. They enjoyed many travel adventures, intellectual pursuits and a great love. She loved her time with her niece Erin sharing favorite movies and books. Bridgett found great joy in the time she was able to spend with her nephew Justin and wife Hannah, as well as, her great nieces and nephew. Family was everything to her.
She is survived by her brother Greg Shirley of Blue Springs, her sister-in-law Judy McKay-Shirley of Plattsburg, her niece Erin Shirley of Blue Springs, her nephew Justin Shirley and his wife Hannah Shirley, great nephew Aiden, and great nieces Hadley and Kacey, all of Platte City,
cousin Becky H. of Independence, Sherry M. of Kansas City, and her close friend Emily B of Kansas City, as well as, many other extended family members of whom she loved.
Bridgett is predecessed by her Father Burleigh W Shirley, Mother Ellyn Elizabeth Shirley, and Spouse Miguel A Sancho.
Memorial Services will be held at St Paul Episcopal Church, 40th and Main Street,
Kansas City, Missouri on August 16, 2025, at 10:00am. Reception to follow at the St Paul's church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the St Paul's Episcopal Church food pantry.
