Tom Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Dec. 17, 2025.
Tom Carter, 92, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1933, in Orange, Texas.

Tom was a proud graduate of Lamar University. He was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a cryptographer during the Korean Conflict. Because he was fluent in Korean, he was among the last groups to return to the United States following the war. After completing his military service, Tom began a long and dedicated career as a chemist at the paper mill in Evadale.

A lifelong learner, Tom was a member of Mensa, reflecting his sharp intellect and love of problem solving. He enjoyed spending time on the computer, playing chess, and reading books. He also loved spending time at the beach with his family and had a special knack for finding lost items along the shoreline. In his later years, he found joy in going on car rides and especially cherished time spent with his great-grandson.

Tom is survived by his daughters-in-law, Debbie Bogan and Remi Bryan and husband, Rob Bryan; son, David Bogan and wife, Cindy Bogan; nieces, Pam Scott, Harris Carol, and Nikki Hilton; nephew, Tim Peden; grandchildren, Lindsey Bonner and husband, Trace Bonner, Jarrod Bogan and husband, Daniel, Traci Bogan, Cal Bryan, Joe Bogan and wife, Nichole Bogan, Jeremy Bogan, and Jessica Bogan; and great-grandchildren, Bowen Bonner, Boone Gaumer, Gavin Bogan, Abby Bogan, and Chance Bogan.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roz Carter; sons, Andy Bogan and Scotty Bogan; his parents, Thomas Carter and Gladys Carter; sisters, Ann Peden and Cornelia Carter; and niece, Carol Schoenbals.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group, P.O. Box 12352, Beaumont, Texas 77726.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care Tom received from Henrietta Leger, O'Ray Leger, Laura Crossley, Chiquitha Guidry, and Francis Thomas.

A graveside service for Mr. Carter will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
