Tom Robert Hamilton, 85, of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Tom was born in Massillon, Ohio on August 31, 1939, the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Appleby) Hamilton.
Tom was a lifelong resident of Massillon and a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. He worked for Superior Meats as a truck driver and retired following 32 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He and his wife traveled to Canada where they had their Honeymoon and enjoyed their time fishing. They also spent many winters in Florida. He was a member of Teamsters Local #92. He spent his early years at the Boys Club in Massillon. He was a longtime member of Myers United Church of Christ. Tom had a 'Heart of Gold', he would help anyone without expecting anything in return.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hamilton, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; children and their spouses, Christina (Ed) Johnston, Kimberly Gossard, Tom (Jennifer) Hamilton, Jennifer (John) Stanko, and Annette (Mark) Begue; grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Hendrix, Chaz Gossard, Jessica (Jordan) Widder, Hanna (Jake) Dennis, Taylor Krebs, Cody (Brandi) Colly, Jacob Begue, Brody Begue, Brock Begue, and Elliana Begue; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Straley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Justine Hitchcock; first wife, Janet (Moore) Hamilton; and son-In-law, Chuck Gossard.
His family would like to thank the staff at the Laurels of Massillon, Crossroads Hospice, and Amherst Meadows for their compassion and care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 12 - 2 pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home. A Celebration of Tom's life will follow at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice: www.crossroadshospice.com.
