Tom Henry “Mr. T” Perry Sr. was born on October 15, 1939, in Marlin, Texas to Henry J. Perry and Benny R. Perry. Tom went home on April 12, 2024, in Abilene, Texas surrounded by his family.
Tom was raised on a farm in Texas. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Vernon, Texas. After graduation he married the love of his life, Ms. Nell Ruth Waggoner in Chillicothe, Texas. Tom and Nell had four children, Tom Henry Perry Jr., Steven Perry, Mark Perry, and Renetta Perry. The family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1975 for about one year before moving to Denver, Colorado in 1976. Tom worked as a mechanic for more than 50 years and was a master mechanic in Denver. He semi-retired when they returned to Hobbs in 1994. When he and Nell settled back here, he started working for A-to-Z Tire until they closed the doors. After he worked for Bull Rogers for a couple of years until he retired fully.
Tom was a family man through and through. He loved his wife of over 60 plus years and his children. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching his grandkids, and visiting. He also loved playing dominoes. Tom came to the Lord when he was young, he was brought up in the church and sung in the choir when he was younger. He later re-affirmed his commitment to the Lord later in life.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Benny Perry. He is survived by his four children Tom Henry Perry Jr. (Carol) of Hobbs NM, Steven Perry of Bryan / College Station TX, Mark Perry (Michelle) of Ennis TX, Renetta Perry-Waugh (Clive) of Denver CO, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
