Thomas Peyton Walton, IV, 69 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Jan. 19th after complications from by-pass heart surgery. Tom was born in Tampa, FL on Jan. 14th, 1955. Preceding in death are his parents, Dr. Thomas Peyton Walton III and Marie Montgomery Walton, sisters: Jane Walton and Lynn Montgomery McMillan and daughter, Lydia Foot. Survivors include: 3 grandchildren, Alaina, Aiden and Gannon Foote, and friend Deborah Dries.
Tom graduated from Central High School in Fayetteville, TN, class of 1973. He received a baseball scholarship in 1973 as a pitcher at Motlow Junior College in Tullahoma, TN. After transferring to Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN, he graduated in 1979.
With his love for baseball, Tom umpired many college and high school games. Later he turned his athletic abilities to golf and often brags about his "holes in one" he got.
Tom was a very sensitive and caring person. He loved being out in the countryside and with his dogs he rescued from the street, but most of all he loved being with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN on Saturday January 27th 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Afterwards there will be a graveside service at 10:30 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Doug Watt officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Philip Clark of Murfreesboro, TN, David Duany of Orlando, FL, Mike Abell of Ft. Myers, FL, Mac Hamilton of Fayetteville, TN, Steve Magers of Tampa, FL, and Stephan Athan of Tampa, FL, and honorary pallbearers will be Tony Duany of Tampa, FL, Dick Templeton of Murfreesboro, TN, Mark Totty of Ft. Myers, FL, and Charles Burch of Atlanta, GA.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Thomas Peyton Walton, IV.
