Tomasa Garibaldo, affectionately known by her nicknames Shirley Mak or Tia Gordie, was born on January 9, 1945, in Bishop, Texas. Throughout her life, Tomasa exhibited a remarkable dedication to her family and community, exemplified by her servant-hearted nature and joyful spirit. She passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with warmth, love, and service to others.

From a young age, Tomasa displayed an unwavering work ethic and admirable resilience. She began picking cotton in the fields at a young age, continuing until she transitioned to various jobs in her community. From 1967 to 1980, she worked at Dairy Cone in Bishop, followed by her tenure at Boat N Net in Kingsville from 1980 to 1988. Tomasa then worked for the Shore Family and the Crim Family in Kilgore from 1988 to 2017, and continued her dedication by working for Olgie Garcia Morales from 2020 until her passing in 2025. Many in the community will remember her warmth and the love she poured into everything she did.

Tomasa had a passion for cooking, particularly during her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, when she delighted in preparing meals for those she cared for. She was especially known for her delicious enchiladas, chicken spaghetti, and Dairy Cone Burgers. Alongside her culinary pursuits, she enjoyed gambling, playing bunko and bingo, and watching sports, activities that brought her joy and connected her with friends and family.

Education played an important role in her early years, as she attended the Bishop School District until the 3rd grade. Although her formal education was limited, her wisdom and life experiences shaped her character and endeared her to all who knew her.

Tomasa leaves behind her cherished son, Daniel, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who cherished her greatly, including her best friend, Ms. Loudester Howell, who she lovingly referred to as her "Sister from another mister." Together, they shared a bond that transcended the conventional friendships, offering each strength and solace through life's ebb and flow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro Villarreal and Anastacia Garza Villarreal, her spouse Joe Garibaldo, and her siblings Julio Villarreal, Juanita Villarreal Rivera, and Maria Villarreal Gonzalez. Their memories will forever remain a part of her legacy.

Tomasa Garibaldo will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family and community, her affectionate spirit, and her profound ability to bring joy to those fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and dedication that will be cherished by all.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tomasa's life. Visitation will be held on May 1, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM, both at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas.
