Tommy Ronald Lee “Sonny” Meadows, 71, of Hilldale passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Summers County Arh following an unexpected illness.

Born May 22, 1952 in Blue Sulphur he was a son Anita L. Hoke Meadows of Hilldale and the late Ronald Marco “Tommy” Meadows.

Sonny was a 1972 graduate of Talcott High School, a coal miner with Itmann No. 3 mine, former employee of Cole Nursery, and in recent years a caregiver for his family.  He enjoyed working with equipment, cars, and loved gardening. Sonny’s legacy of love was his family, the most important thing in his life. Sonny would want to leave a special quote to all who knew him, “Hurry up and wait! And don’t forget to get your lottery ticket!”

Besides his father he is preceded in death by three brothers; Gregory, Jeff, and Zachary Meadows; and one nephew, William Wheeler Jr.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Donna Jean “Jeannie” Bragg; two grandsons, Jerry “L.J.” (Mekia) and Tyler (Skyler) Johnson; five great grandchildren; Charity, Jordyn, Amity, Addy, and Davina; siblings, Sandra Burns and (Richard), Regina Davis and (C.W.), Michael Meadows and (Gail), Lorry Richmond, Lisa Smith (Randy), and Jason Meadows (Suzie); and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services and burial were held Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the Meadows Family Cemetery in Hilldale with Pete Tabor officiating. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors to help the family with funeral expenses.
