Thomas John O'Brien III, age 59, of Lampe, Missouri, passed after a long battle with cancer March 9, 2025. He entered this life April 12, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Thomas John Jr. and Patricia Christine (Smith) O'Brien. He was joined in marriage April 25, 1992, to Melissa Ann Garretson.
Tommy was the former owner of Happy Hollow Resort near Blue Eye, Missouri. He was known for his talents in home renovation, mechanics, reconstruction and serving others. Tommy was a loving husband, devoted father, and friend to everyone. He was his Lord's servant. With his abilities to make anything work better, a jack of all trades, Tommy had a special kind of humor to help everyone appreciate life a little more. He loved the lake, classic cars, boating, tools and spending time outdoors. Running the resort was "his hobby." He lived his dreams and left a positive impact on many lives. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Melissa O'Brien; daughter, Kaelyn O'Brien, Thomas John O'Brien IV, of Springfield, Missouri; sister, Flo (Brian) Randolph of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Kevin O'Brien of Memphis, Tennessee; stepfather, Larry Morrison of Estill Springs, Tennessee; his dog, Buddy O'Brien; and many friends and extended family.
Tommy is preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Patricia Howell.
A celebration of life will be held April 25 & 26 at the OBrien residence in Lampe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CHANCES of Stone County (www.chancesofstonecounty.org), supporting individuals with special needs, or mail "In Memory of Thomas OBrien" to CHANCES at 21016 Main Street, RM 11, Reeds Spring 65737."
