Toni Diane (Frederick) Haworth, 84, of Wheeling, WV passed away at home in the loving care of her family on June 14, 2025.
She was born July 14 1940, the daughter of Joseph A Frederick, Jr and Mary V (McTighe) Frederick. She achieved her dream of being a good wife, mother and homemaker. She graduated from Ambridge High School, Ambridge, PA, in 1958 and earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Toledo in 1962, followed by graduate studies at Duquesne University. Her career as a dedicated early childhood educator spanned 40 years. She taught children in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia and Kassel, Germany. She cherished most the 17 years leading to her 2008 retirement at St Michael School in Wheeling, WV.
Toni met her husband Stephen T Haworth of Cumberland, RI while she was teaching military dependents in Kassel, West Germany and he was stationed close by in the U.S. Army. She took advantage of her holidays and summer time off to tour extensively in Europe. Toni married Steve at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington February 15, 1969.
In more recent years Toni has spent free time streaming lots of different shows from various providers; doing word puzzles such as crosswords, Wordle, Strands and Word Connect; keeping up with politics; and receiving visits from her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She felt very lucky to have had such extensive visits throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory (Kathy) Frederick. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Stephen T. Haworth; two sons, Stephen Courtney (Patricia) Haworth of Chicago, IL, and Gregory J. (Lisa) Haworth of Wheeling, WV; one brother, Joseph "Jay" (Joanne) Frederick of Bradenton, FL; five grandchildren, Dhira, Gabriel, and Evan Haworth, and Lillian and Andrew Gadd; and two great-grandchildren, Jovi Gheen and Theodore Shannon.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Rd., Bethlehem/Wheeling, WV.
