Tony, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on
December 26, 2024, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of Clinton, Tony was a true
embodiment of small-town values and the close-knit community he cherished.
A skilled and dedicated barber, Tony spent his career providing a steady hand and a
listening ear to generations of locals. His barbershop was more than just a place for a
haircut – it was where friendships were made, stories were shared, and memories were
created.
Tony had a deep affection for his past and treasured the memory of his 1957 Chevy Bel
Air, a car that symbolized his love for nostalgia and the simple pleasures of life. He was
known for his sense of humor, work ethic, and unyielding loyalty to his community.
Every Sunday, without fail, Tony visited his mother, Martha, and his grandmother,
known lovingly as Little Grandma. These family gatherings were some of the most
cherished moments of his life. He was also deeply involved in his community, actively
participating in various men’s clubs and contributing to the success of the annual Little
Italy Festival, a tradition that brought together the townspeople he loved so dearly. Tony
was also a member of Sacred Heart Church – Clinton and a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus #9441.
He graduated from Newport High School class of 1958.
He was also a long serving 4th Ward Councilman in Clinton.
Tony is survived by his son, Dominic Costello and his family, and daughter, Angela
Hamilton and her family. His sister Gina Wood and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marna and brother Michael. His favorite cat, Molly, of indeterminable age, is still hanging in there.
A visitation will be held at Giovanini Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2025, 11:00 AM
to 12:45 PM. A funeral mass will follow at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, January 10,
2025, at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Anthony Nallukunnel OFM officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Tony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of
knowing him. His legacy of kindness, service, and love for his community will live on in
the hearts of those who knew him.
