Tony Griffis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC on Dec. 21, 2025.
Mr. Tony Eli Griffis, 62 years old, passed away on December 18, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was a longtime resident of McDavid, Florida, where he created many cherished memories with those he cared about. Tony will be remembered for his warm heart and the joy he brought to the lives of everyone around him. His family and friends will hold his memory dear as they navigate this difficult time.

He really loved spending time outdoors, whether it was coon hunting under the stars or fishing by a quiet creek. Riding down dirt roads brought him joy, with the wind in his hair and the thrill of adventure. He also enjoyed trapping raccoons, which he found both challenging and rewarding. In the evenings, he would unwind by watching old westerns, losing himself in the stories of cowboys and adventures. Tanning hides was another skill he cherished, connecting him to nature in a special way. Most importantly, he loved taking care of his grandson, sharing his passions and creating unforgettable memories together.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Daniel and Ruby Lee Johnson Griffis; four brothers, Danny Griffis, Gary Griffis, Dennis Griffis and Wayne Griffis; sister Annette Griffis.

Mr. Griffis is remembered fondly by his family, including his son, Scott Eli Griffis, from Walnut Hill, Florida, and his daughter, Heather Griffis, from McDavid, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Patsy Griffis of McDavid and Brenda Hanks of Century. His nephew Patrick, along with his wife Kayla, also lives in McDavid. Mr. Griffis leaves behind three loving grandchildren: Tyler Jensen, Cody Griffis, and Gracelynn Griffis. They will all cherish the memories they shared with him.
